Mesquite Softball

We went down to Mesquite, NV last weekend for softball. Erin was playing with the Charge team in a weekend tournament, so we made a little family vacation of it.

The weather was wonderful! I forget how much I love the warm, warm weather. As many of you know, there's not a whole lot to do down there if you don't drink, smoke or gamble. So we spent lots of time at the pool and of course, at the ball fields. Erin played very well, I was surprised that she never even sat. As one of the 'borrowed' girls, I wasn't sure how much she would play, but she did great! She made a lot of terrific defensive plays. I was amazed at some of the things she did, and so were some of the coaches on the other team. She struggled a little offensively, but I think that may have just lit a fire under her to work harder in that department.

The team came in 3rd in the tournament, right behind 2 Las Vegas teams. The one team they had even beat earlier in the day, too. They had a couple of games on Friday night, then Saturday started at 8:30 a.m. and finished up at 11 that night. We did get a little break in the middle of the day for a couple of hours so Taylor was at least able to swim. By about 10:30 that night she was wrapped in a quilt lying on the little hill by left field sleeping very soundly. I can't believe I didn't get a picture!

It was fun, but it was nice to get home for Erin to practice and be with her own team. Great experience!!!

The Charge Team

Here's Erin during her star performance game behind the plate. It was about 9:30 in the morning and about 90 degrees. I don't know how they do it!

I love this picture! You can just see the concentration on her face as she looks over to the coach waiting to see which sign to give. That was another thing, their signs were much more complicated than the Sliders, and she had to learn them quick.

I so love that last pic of Erin. Look at her pretty eyes! Wow, I'm so proud of her. I love to watch her play and by the sounds of the warm weather I would've loved to be down there watching that weekend too.

Taylor is a good sport. At least the weather was warm...er that night, right? Thank heavens for the blanket, too. I wish you would've gotten a pic of that. Oh well.

I'm glad you guys had fun and made it home safe. And - again - happy birthday!!

Love you guys!!
