Spring Training

Well, it has been a while - sorry. The last few days, I haven't been feeling well, but I think I'm coming out of it. It has been like a touch of the flu that is just bad enough that it's hard to function, but not so bad that it puts you out of the game. This has been a really, really long week.

Erin had her first double header night last night. We played last night at 5:30 and 8:00 in Roy. As we are driving down there through the snow, rain and hail with patches of blue sky peeking through, I kept checking my phone to make sure this wasn't just a joke. I had talked to Jen earlier, and she said it was very cold and the wind was blowing hard - she was right. We made it down there and bundled up. They didn't even have the restrooms open at the park - Kevin had to run a couple of the girls to a 7-11 right before the game started. Erin played great! In the 1st game she played shortstop, took a throw from catch and tagged the runner out, and had a solid single past shortstop. We won 10-1. The second game was a little more cold and we came up short 3-2. Erin played 3rd, where she's never played before, so it was definitely a learning game for her. We made it home at about 11:00 last night. So if I was going to be sick, this was the perfect day.

As many of you know, we haven't been able to find a team for Avery to play on. He wasn't even sure that he wanted to play. CRAZY!!!!! Colt and Jon even offered to coach his team, but there weren't really enough boys to form a team, and not enough time. I had taken him and his friend down to Ogden last week to check out a team, but it really wasn't a positive experience, so that wasn't happening. The other night, his friend called again saying that he found another team that needed three players - just right. Avery was pretty sure it wasn't going to work out, and was ready to say no to the whole baseball thing. But I got a call from him that night and he told me it was a go. He had a great time, the coaches were great, and the drills were fun. I was so excited for him. (I don't think he believed me when I said that if he had nothing to do this summer, I'd find him an old farmer with little money who needed some big help~)

Anyway, his games are in Ogden on Saturdays starting the 19th. Yea!!!!! That puts us driving to Ogden or Roy four to five days a week. With gas only 3.18 an hour, I figure we should come out way ahead. Avery is going to be selling $10 Domino's cards (not really sure what that is) so if anyone would like one, let us know!

Taylor is just being a trooper. She is such a homebody, and is so excited when she can stay with grandma & grandpa or Aunt Stef rather than sit at a ballgame all night. I can't blame her sometimes - like last night. Thanks mom, dad, and Stef for always stepping in for us.
We are all very ready for summer (except maybe Kevin). The older two are working on big projects to finish off this term - then only one term left!

We hope everyone is doing well! I am also posting a couple of our stingray city pictures from the cruise. Enjoy!

This is Avery snorkeling at Grand Cayman.

Here is Erin holding her stingray and loving every minute of it. Too bad you can't hear the little squeals we were able to enjoy in person.

Britt, this picture is for you. This was Taylor's favorite place to be on the boat. It was like a little lazy river going in a circle. As I sat there watching her, it freaked me out, but we learned a lesson on refraction while we were on vacation. Ever the thinker that Kevin. It was so funny when Taylor saw these pictures of her. She just didn't understand or believe it when we told her that her body and head were not connected. Now she does believe!

Yet another lucky critter on our vacation. First a croc and now a stingray. I guess he's practicing for his first kiss (when he turns 18).

Here is part of Taylor's sand castle that we were building in Cozumel. I want to go back and finish it!

No kissing for Taylor! Even with Kevin's lips puckered and ready, she knew that wasn't the brightest idea.
One last note: I guess I'd better do this a little more often, because this just took me FOREVER!!!!!!!
