Girls' Camp

Well, Erin went to her first young womens' camp with our ward. I really wasn't looking forward to it too much because we were leaving at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, the first day of summer. I'd also heard that it had been snowing up there, and was not looking forward to spending a week in the snow.

We rode up on buses to Heber City. The church owns about 8,000 acres up above there. It was so beautiful!! There wasn't any snow to be seen (o.k. maybe a few piles under some tall shade trees), and the weather was great. . .at least for the first half of camp. It did rain and was quite cold the last couple of days, but we were in cabins, were able to have a warm shower once in a while, and even had one little space heater in each cabin.

It was a great experience for all of us who went. I think Erin really loved it. She was taken in by some of the 16 year olds who treated her just like a little sister. She learned to love all of the young women in our ward. I'm so glad we were able to have that experience together.

Here is Erin and some other girls from our ward canoeing on the lake. It was so beautiful the day our group was able to go. What a fun time we had! Nobody fell in on our watch, but when the other group came up, they did have one boat capsize. It was on one of the coldest days too. I'm sorry I missed seeing it, though.

Here's Erin with some of her new friends - trying to stay warm.

Mom and Erin. On one of the cold, drizzly inside days, I let one of the girls straigten my hair. One girl told me that I "look like a teenager from the back". I got a kick out of that. But I'll have you know, I did get the best hair award! Thanks, Natalie V.

Here is a group of all of us. I know you can't see them very well, but we had quite the group. There were 31 girls plus 8 leaders who enjoyed camp this year. We all were given t-shirts, then the camp directors made everyone matching pajama pants too. We all look like we weight around 200 pounds because we have 5 layers on underneath, trying to stay warm.

Hey Tracy! I saw your name on Amy Jo's blog and couldn't resist taking a peak. Love, love, love, your hair straight! It's so long!

Tell the fam hi! It was catching up on what the kids are doing. We REALLY need to get together for a date night soon. I'll even leave Melissa home. Or Clay, you guys pick. :)
