Number Four

As most of you know, Avery broke his arm - again! It is his left arm, same area as last time, but this time, his story is better than falling off of a fence.

He was in Idaho Falls at a baseball tournament. He had gone up with his friend Colton, and Colton's mom Carol. Anyway, in the first Saturday game, Avery was stretching a single into a double and slid funny. He was called out (that's beside the point), and decided that it really hurt, but he could shake it off. His next at bat, kind of the same thing happened, but this time he was safe. He hurt REALLY bad this time, though, and had to have a pinch runner. (who didn't score, again, beside the point) So they put him in right field for the next couple of innings.

Avery was really hurting pretty badly by now, wondering if it was broken, but not sure. Carol told me she kept watching him in the field and wondered if she should have him pulled from the game because he acted like he was really hurt, but she waited for Avery to complain a little. The funny part is that Carol had already taken her son to the insta-care earlier that day because Colton hurt his ankle. It ended up being a bad sprain, though, not broken. Anyway, Avery seemed to be hurting a lot, but it was time to head home, so she gave hime some Advil and they came home.

Sunday, he woke up saying it was his worst night ever. Monday, we took him in, had it x-rayed, and yep, broken. First his leg, then collarbone, arm, now arm again. Wow!!

Colt was pretty bummed because we talked him into coaching Avery and Colton in the city league and here they are pretty much worthless for a week. Avery did pitch Monday night, and did very well. He even got hit by a pitch (he's batting leftie to protect his arm) and did crazy sliding and base running. He loved being back on the field!

Avery also got braces last week, but I don't have the picture of him here - I'll post it later. Have a happy summer day!

Posing for a cute picture. He has since gotten a new cast that looks and fits much better. When he started sliding it off, I decided that wasn't a good thing.

This is one of my favorite pics of Avery playing with his comp team this year. They ended up 0-18 (not counting the tournaments). Here he is watching a game, waiting for the rest of his team to get to the park.

Avery and Colton Cornwall
For those of you who are worried - - - I asked the dr. about Avery's bones. He said that the x-ray of them looks good, no brittle, crappy bones. Some people are just more lively, and that's Avery.

"More lively", I like that. I'm glad you got him a new cast. When one can take the cast off I'm thinking it's not giving the proper support.

love ya!

Ok I must tell you...
When I first saw the title of this post I thought you were having another kid (then I remembered that's not possible) How funny!

He is such a trooper! I had fun with him on Saturday and was glad that he stuck around. I laughed when he said that he would've swam with the other kids, but he didn't bring his swimming suit. I looked at him and said, "what about your cast?" and he got this funny look and said, "oh ya!"!

He is awesome!
