Tooele Tournament

SUMMER IS HERE!!!! The kids and I are so excited that summer has arrived - now if only it would get above 72 degrees.

Kevin and Avery headed to Oregon the day after school got out. Shirley's brother died a couple of weeks ago and I think both Kevin and Shirley were ready for a family fix - am I right guys? Anyway, my boys loaded the little Mazda and headed out Thursday afternoon. As far as I've heard, things are going well on their little getaway. We girls are having a good time, but missing them too.

I haven't blogged at all yet about Slider's softball. The team has participated in 4 tournaments so far and have taken 1st in three of them and 2nd in the other. They are playing great - and the hitting has been something that we've never really had like this before. So fun to watch! We do still have some weak spots, but that seems to be getting better each tournament. These pictures below are from the tournament in Tooele. It was sooooo rainy that weekend. It rained through both games on Friday night, and we had a two hour rain delay on Saturday morning. I was sure we wouldn't get the tournament through, but see how much I know? Here are some of the pictures from that weekend. . .

Here is the team receiving their 1st place prizes. The team got a wagon to haul stuff on and a nice big cooler filled with bottled water. They got t-shirts, and the girls who hit home runs over the fence (yes, over the fence) each got their ball back signed with the date and event. This is the game where we were playing Avalanche and we were up 5-2, but they came back to tie it. Erin came up in the bottom of the inning with time expired and two girls on and hit a three run homerun over the fence to win the game!!!! GO Erin - GO Sliders!
A shot of the dreary day. Not great softball weather, but turned out well.

These two were troopers out there supporting their sister!

This is one of my favorite shots of Erin as catcher. She is so intent and focused on getting the right sign. I love the look on her face.

This shot is trying to show the muddy mess they were playing in. When they swung the bat, they would slip and slide. They played hard, and weren't afraid to slide even though it was a big mess. Needless to say, we did some laundry Friday night after games.

I love these pictures, Tracy. I am looking forward to coming to her games in a few weeks. I agree, that picture of Erin catching is awesome. Cute catcher. Love, Grandma
